According to the study "Waste in the Health Sector in Jordan", the percentage of waste reaches approximately (8%) of the gross domestic product annually and its forms vary between waste in the pharmaceutical sector, cadres, infrastructure and health insurance.
It is noteworthy that spending on the health sector has decreased in previous years, as in 2019, 7% of the general budget was allocated to the Ministry of Health's budget, to decrease in 2020 to 6.4% and then to 6% in 2021. The percentage of spending on medicines and medical supplies amounted to about 25% of total hospital spending. From here, the Social Protection Observatory launched a campaign on the right to access public health, as the Observatory implements a group of activities and events within the framework of the campaign aimed at shedding light on the problems facing Jordanians in the public health sector. As part of this campaign, the Tamkeen Association for Legal Aid and Human Rights organizes a symposium on "The Problem of Chronic Disease Medications in the Public Health Sector", managed by the media figure "Heba Al-Hayat" Obeidat.
