Tamkeen for Legal Aid and Human Rights has won the Hassan Wirajuda Perlindungan Award. The announcement was made on Friday December 18th, which marks the International Day for Migrant Workers. The HWPA is awarded by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for those who have significant contributions in the issue of Indonesian citizen protection abroad. Tamkeen won the prize for the category of foreign non-governmental organization. It should be noted that 59 candidates are selected for the 8 categories for the award and that 17 are selected as awardees of the HWPA.

The HWPA is an annual award that has been conducted since 2015. The HWPA awardees are selected and evaluated by the judges comprising government officials, academicians, public figures, and NGO practitioners for Indonesian citizen protection. Tamkeen was selected as an awardee for its role in providing protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers in Jordan, especially those who are subjected to labor violations, like those related to wages, or long working hours, among others.

Following the announcement, Tamkeen expressed its appreciation for the award, as well as its pride as this is the 4th award which the organization has received for its efforts in providing aid to migrant workers. The organization added that this recognition will only encourage it to continue providing it services, as well as increase its efforts that aim to create a decent work environment for all workers, especially the most vulnerable segments of our community.
